CARLO & ESTER
Synopsis
When Carlo and Ester fall heavily in love, they are forced to choose between their own feelings and the feelings of others. Together they stand strong - claim their right to love - and experience short but intense intimacy, where all the feelings which only the younger generations should "naturally" feel, bloom in full. Carlo is forced to live with a quiet life in an old people's home due to his wife's Alzheimers Disease. But everything changes the day he meets Ester, a lively, bridge-playing widow with morals which depend very much upon the situation. They try to supress their feelings, as Carlo is still technically married, but their lust for life, sense of adventure and passion prevail. Everyone objects strongly as soon as they discover the couple's secret liasons, including Carlo's son and his drunken wife and Ester's long suffering daughter, a scoutleader. They would rather see their parents as helpless, passive old people without any expectations in life. Instead they are faced with a loving couple, riding a motorbike, going on romantic weekends, living together and planning the white wedding, Ester never had.
