BASTARD OUT OF CAROLINA
Synopsis
Anney Boatwright, a single woman, is struggling to raise two daughters in the 1950's rural south. When a seemingly kind and loving Glen proposes marriage, she readily accepts. Soon Anney realizes that she has traded one difficult life for another. Glen's explosive temper and inability to hold a job eventually brings even harder times. Becoming increasingly despondent, Anney chooses denial as a means to cope, ignoring the desperation in her family's eyes. By accident, relatives learn the truth of Anney's situation, and the stage is set for a dramatic, tension-filled climax that has Anney choosing between love for her children and her need for a man.
